This hits the nail on the head for me as someone that doesn't know how to share ...my thoughts are mostly a jumble and I don't know how to put what I feel in writing most times, could you share your journaling breakdown please?
Aw alhamdulillah Sameera! You know, I don't know how to share either (maybe just to my husband, depending on what it is), but my journal has been the only space where I've been able to 'say' anything and everything. InshaAllah i will share the break down soon ๐ธ
i see your point, but therapy is more than this. Sometimes you need someone to look at you with concern and empathy, feeling seen and heard. The eye-contact from a fellow human being part is crucial. Plus when you have false intrinsic beliefs or thoughts about yourself you judge โtrueโ than itโs difficult to see them for what it is. Someone needs to challenge these and put them under a microscope. Your journal cannot challenge you in a logical way. Sometimes you need another perspective on a particular issue, not a solution or advice, just another way of looking at x. A combination of both therapy and journaling is the way to go in my opinion.
Aw thank you so much for sharing Fatima! I agree wholeheartedly, the human touch and feedback is important and we can't handle everything through journaling alone. I'm actually on a journey to becoming a therapist/counsellor soon inshaAllah so I do get what you mean :)
I think anyone that has the opportunity to get therapy should run and take the opportunity! However, people "do nothing" because they can't afford therapy or can't find the right fit, and they keep waiting for therapy, keep feeling stuck in their issues, keep drowning while waiting... And I see journaling as a great first step.
