goodness me. i was reading the first six lines of this piece and got scared that it was me somehow writing from another account. that is *literally* my life right now... my own yahya, our parents being friends from way back, thinking we'd get married when we were teens. but it didn't work out. i really wanted it to. i needed to read this. jazakallah khairan x1000. i did do my part. a lot of it. too much of it. unfortunately, the effort (painfully) wasn't reciprocated so it didn't end up being for me. like you said, 'thatโs ok, especially if youโve done your part'. but i have hope that i'll get something better :) someday.
