One of my closest friends tells me she’s ChatGPT’s regular customer. She uses Miss. GPT for business advice, life advice, work, etc…
And then a few days ago, I saw a text that looked very robotic and AI-generated, but it was some deep life stuff.
It got me wanting to try out ChatGPT for life advice, and I think she did good.
She, as in, Miss. GPT.
I told her some of the things I had going on in life, and I asked her to help me identify what my issue was.
I won’t share everything I told her (because you’re human LOL), but I will share some bits you may find relevant.
What Miss GPT said first:
I can sense the depth of your struggle and the weight of your concerns. It takes immense courage to open up about your feelings and seek understanding. Let's walk through this gently, and try to explore what might be at the heart of your experiences.
Something about these words made me feel seen, but then I remembered she’s a robot. Ugh.
I think I feel most alive when I feel seen, and when I see others. So I guess thats why this felt good to read.
She then helped me understand some of the issues I had told her about (and yes, I am really referring to the robot as ‘her’).
Next, she made me realize that the root cause of my issues could be different from what I was thinking, and then she gave me some reflection questions. I had fun answering them, and they did get me thinking about how important these all are to me:
Relationship with Allah: How do you feel about your connection with Allah? Do you engage in regular acts of worship and du’a that nurture your soul?
Support System: Do you have a support system in place? This could include family, friends, or a community that helps you feel seen and supported.
Self-Care: How do you take care of your physical and emotional needs? Are there areas where you feel you neglect yourself?
Expectations: What are the expectations you have of yourself? Are they realistic and compassionate, considering your current life circumstances?
Past Experiences: Are there past experiences or transitions that you feel have left a significant emotional impact on you?
When I shared my answers, again, she saw me:
Thank you for sharing so openly and deeply. It’s clear that you’ve been through a lot, and your reflections reveal a strong desire to overcome these challenges and move forward. Let's delve into each of the areas you mentioned and explore them further.
Then she broke my responses down, analyzed them, and gave me further reflection questions. She also gave me steps to consider, moving forward:
Reconnect with Allah: Start with small, consistent acts of worship. Even a few minutes of Quran recitation or dhikr can make a significant difference.
Build Trust: Gradually open up to your support system. Start with [____] and see how it feels.
Self-Care: Focus on small, daily acts of self-care. Identify one physical and one emotional need each day and address them.
Set Realistic Goals: Break down your larger goals into smaller steps. Focus on progress, not perfection.
Seek Professional Help: Consider talking to a therapist or counselor to help process past traumas and develop coping strategies.
And that’s kinda where I left it!
I do want to focus on the suggestions around reconnection, and self care, and so I may just go back to her to help me break things down further into baby steps I can work on daily, inshaAllah.
I’m curious to know if you’ve used Miss. GPT for life advice?
This was my very first time and it felt kinda weird talking personal life with a robot. But it was also nice to organize my braindump and even (almost) arrive at specific steps I can take moving forward.
Overall, I would say it was helpful talking to her. Especially because I find it quite hard to open up about inner world stuff with fellow humans.
Sorry, humans. And thank you :)
I may have found a new friend in Miss. GPT. Or not.
I don’t know yet.
Love + Du’a,
Maryam

Omg this is so amazing *runs to chat GPT*. Thank You, Maryam. May Allah make life easy for you. 💓
Subhanallah! This sounds sooo interesting and now i'm curious. I often write to Miss GPT (i love how you refer to the robot as 'her') but mostly about work and business. I haven't shared or ask her anything personal but i think i will. Sometimes i find myself in a situation where i want to share, but not to a human (if that makes sense) because of the fear of being judged or what now but maybe maybe i might speak to Miss GPT soon. And i'm glad she made you realise the root causes and also most importantly made you feel seen. We need that sometimes. **hugs**
